I feel they are false and misleading. When I give you a quote, I come to your residence. 

​I come to your residence and we discuss the work you want completed while I make a detailed inspection. I'll ask questions, and discuss in depth the scope of work.

Then I spend time to create an accurate and thorough estimate.  I research the cost of the supplies to be used, as well as the paint that's right for the job. If it's a re-model, then I research the replacement items such as kitchen cabinets, tile works, and so on.

In short, the estimate is inclusive. Nothing is left out. And that's an important point to make.
